Easter Breakfast and Worship – April 16, 2017


8:30am-10am—PRMT & TMT serving breakfast (free will donation, recommend $10) and Oglala Sioux and Tanazanian Art Sale

Our menu includes:  made to order omelets, pancakes, ham, sausage gravy with biscuits, muffins, pastries, fruit and more.  We will also be having an art and craft sale of work from Oglala Sioux and Tanzanian artists.  Your free will donations will help support the Pine Ridge and Tanzania Ministry Teams.






9:45am—Easter Egg Hunt for preK to 10 year olds






Worship at 10:30am.

Christmas Season Activities

St. Andrew’s has many activities going on for the Christmas Season.

November 26th, 9am-Noon – Decorate the Sanctuary and brunch.  Come help decorate the sanctuary for the Christmas Season and have brunch with us.  All are invited!

On December 3rd, youth group will be baking lots of cookies and rice krispie treats to sell on Sunday, December 4th. The bake sale will be held in the Narthex after service. All items are for a free will donation with a suggestion of $5. The money we raise will be used to buy games and activities for Beloit residents and their mentors. Come buy some cookies!

St. Andrew’s Book Club Christmas Party – 6:30pm, December 6th at Edith Wessel’s home.  Bring a Christmas book, story, or poem and some treats to share if you’d like.  Come join the fun and bring a friend!

Women’s Circle Christmas Party – 10:30am on December 8th at St. Andrew’s.  Catered brunch followed by carol singing and a reading of the Christmas story.  Spouses/friends are invited.  Please contact Pat Thompson at 268-5200 if you plan to attend.

Youth Group Christmas – 6pm-7pm, December 14th at St. Andrew’s.  Watch a Christmas movie and make luminaries for Christmas while having hot chocolate.  Regular programming will begin after 7pm.

Christmas Eve worship services – 3pm and 7pm, December 24th.  The 3pm service will have the Sunday School kids helping out.  The 7pm service will have candlelight and carols.

Christmas Day worship service – 10:30am, December 25th.  A spiritual way to start your holiday.

2016 EMF Scholarship Application Information

Information for Students


Purpose and Eligibility

The scholarship provides incentive for confirmed members of St. Andrew’s Lutheran

Church to attend colleges and seminaries and is available only to St. Andrew’s

members who have been accepted for admission by a college or seminary. The

same student may receive the scholarship for more than one year if the student is

enrolled full time and is making satisfactory progress toward a degree.


Selection Process

-Eligible individuals should submit a request to the Extended Ministry Fund

committee by May 1, 2015 for the following academic year.

-The application letter must include the applicant’s name, address, phone number

and email address, as well as the criteria listed above.

-In any year when there area requests for scholarships funds, the Extended Ministry

Fund Committee will review the applications and determine allocation of

scholarship funds.


Amount of the Scholarship Award

The amount to be awarded to an individual student will depend on these factors:

-The number of students requesting support

-The amount of funds available to be awarded

-The amount that may be needed in subsequent years to continue to provide

scholarship support to students receiving the scholarship

Part Time Custodian wanted!

Part-time Custodian

St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Ames, IA is hiring a part-time custodian.

Responsibilities:  Routine cleaning and set up of fellowship hall, Sunday school rooms, kitchen, restrooms, hallways and sanctuary.  Empty wastebaskets, change light bulbs, replenish supplies, notifying Property Committee chairperson of needed repairs.  Help with weddings and funerals as contacted.  Perform annual and biannual cleaning such as windows and stripping of floors.

Requirements:  This position is part time, averaging about 10 hours per week.  Work time should be during periods of lowest use during the week so that the building looks its best during Sundays and other periods of heavy use.  Must be physically able to handle cleaning chores, efficient and organized with time, self motivated, and reliable.  Handy person talents are a plus.

Part-Time Nursery Position Available

Part-time Nursery Attendant

St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church is seeking a part-time nursery attendant to staff our nursery on Sundays, Wednesdays through Lent, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and during any special events such as annual meetings, Madrigal dinner, etc.


Candidates must be at least 16 years of age, have significant childcare experience – especially with children under the age of 5.  Must also be responsible, kind, attentive to kids and parents needs, trained in CPR & First-Aid, able to multi-task, self-starting, organized and willing to clean and sanitize the nursery before and after watching kids.
